This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to help mould the future of a dynamic commercial debt recoveries team, building on a loyal and strong existing client base to expand our offering to new clients with a portfolio of debts.
We’re looking for someone with experience in and knowledge of commercial portfolio debt recovery work looking for the opportunity to grow our team and client portfolio to the next level, and mould its future. |
The debt recovery team is a key part of our holistic client offering. It uses Nexum workflow software to successfully manage and recover debts owed to our clients and has a reputation for achieving consistently exceptional results, regularly recovering at least £50 for every £1 our clients spend with us – and often much more. It recovers portfolio debts for a solid base of professional service firms, as well as commercial businesses.
You’ll have the chance to lead, drive forward & build on the success of the team, which has an excellent reputation and is ranked in the top tier for debt recovery work in the Legal 500, the only firm in Sussex with this accolade for this area of work. You will also help us to expand our current firm wide offerings to various lender clients, including mainstream banks and alternative lenders as well as commercial organisations.

- To be responsible for managing the team as it develops, including as regards business development, the team’s fee earning workloads and other initiatives as they arise;
- To be able to communicate effectively and develop good working relationships with clients and team members; we are looking for a driven individual who is an effective team player;
- A commercial and pragmatic approach to your work and advice to clients and negotiations with debtors. You’ll need to understand client care and ensure it’s at the heart of what you do; and
- Experience of managing client and stakeholder relationships and interests. You’ll need to be comfortable meeting with commercial clients and agreeing the provision of services to them, as well as managing relationships with them.
In addition we’d like (although it’s not essential) you to have:
- Chartered Institute of Credit Management (CICM) qualifications or relevant experience;
- Experience of leading, delegating to and developing a team;
- Experience of dealing with client billing and driving a team to achieve its targets;

It’s also really important to us that you’re the kind of person who will maintain our culture of speaking up about problems or mistakes, and working collaboratively to resolve issues rather than attributing blame. |

It goes without saying that we’ll need you to be able to:
- Manage your time effectively;
- Meet deadlines;
- Be IT proficient;
- Follow risk protocols;
- Keep yourself up to date on industry news and developments etc.
