The department

Assisting with the development, implementation, and in-life support of the firm’s IT applications/systems supporting the Practice Groups legal operations.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Assisting with the development and deployment of new systems into the firm.
  2. Assist the Senior Systems Developer with the enhancement and maintenance of existing systems (Web & Windows apps, .NET console apps & Office VBA).
  3. Assisting with the production of management reports using Excel and SQL Server Reporting Services.
  4. To assist in the projects of other members of the IT Team.
  5. Assist with third line support of Intranet / Extranet, Word and other applications as advised.
  6. To keep up to date on the functions and capabilities of in-house systems including Microsoft Office.
  7. To comply with the IT implementation procedures and to maintain accurate and well documented records of all developed applications.
  8. To comply with the Firm’s Development and Security policies.
  9. To carry out any reasonable tasks requested by the Head of IT or Senior Systems Developer.
  10. To be committed to excellent client service and team working.
  11. To attend group and department meetings and such training courses as determined by the Department Head.

Knowledge Skills and Experience required:

  1. This is a great position to start your IT career in our entry level role as a Junior Systems Developer. We are looking for someone who wants to take their first step into a Professional Services IT Department where they can build their developer experience and skillset. You will receive plenty of one-on-one training alongside our Senior Systems Developer.
  2. Effective organisational skills and ability to prioritise.
  3. Skills in the follow areas are desirable:
    • C#
    • ASP.NET
    • T-SQL
    • Object Orientated Design
  4. Logical but creative thinker who enjoys solving problems and providing solutions.
  5. Ability to work effectively on own and as a member of a team.
  6. Good inter-personal and communication skills (both oral and written) enabling successful working with staff of all ages and levels.

Skills / experience in the following would be advantageous, however, full training will be provided:

  • Practice Management / Accounting System – e.g. Axxia / Aderant / ShareDo
  • Case Management/Workflow Systems
  • Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS)
  • Scheduled Tasks
  • Full Stack Development
  • Microsoft Office applications including VBA
  • jQuery / JavaScript
